Dr O'Carrigan gave a presentation on his experience with calcaneal distraction osteotomies using external fixation at the World Online Foot and Ankle Congress organised by Dr Mark Meyerson who is a world renowned Foot and Ankle Surgeon based in the United States. It is the first time an event like this has been presented online and it proved to be a very successful event..
It is with great pleasure that I introduce Dr Mustafa Alttahir who is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who has completed three dedicated Foot and Ankle Fellowships since completing his Orthopaedic Surgery training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
From August this year Dr O’Carrigan will be offering an Australian Orthopaedic Association approved Fellowship for suitably qualified Orthopaedic Surgeons who have obtained their FRACS(Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) or equivalent.
The Stryde Nail is a stainless steel nail that is the same as the Precice Nail except in its construction materials. The Precice is a Titanium nail which allows us to lengthen bones at the rate and rhythm required for optimal bone healing. It uses an External Magnetic Field that drives an internal magnet that controls the lengthening. We have extensive experience with the Precice with excellent results and it has become the Gold Standard for intramedullary lengthening nails and in many cases has replaced the requirement for the use of External Fixateurs to achieve lengthening.
In September 2018 Dr Tim O’Carrigan was appointed to Macquarie University Hospital as part of the Limb Reconstruction Centre at MQ Health.
